Episode #222: 'Democracy'
There has been a lot of talk about democracy and threats to democracy lately, but what is democracy? Founding father, Benjamin Franklin described it as two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Franklin also famously said, after the Philadelphia Convention which created the United States of America, when asked what form of government they had created, "A republic, if you can keep it." Two hundred and thirty-five years later, when the survival of the republic is at risk, Americans are debating if we even are a republic, or a democracy. CNN recently aired a segment referring to the fact that our nation is a republic as, "conspiracy theories". Is the United States a democracy, or a republic, and why is it important to know the difference? Join the conversation and get answers to these questions and more on According2Sam episode #222.

Episode #221: 'Cheap Fake'
You may have heard of 'deepfake' videos, the process of overlaying someone else's face on a video to make it look like they are doing, or saying something they never did or said, but have you heard of 'cheap fakes'? 'Cheap Fake' videos are videos that have been edited to change the context of what really happened in the unedited video. For example, video of President Trump saying, "there were fine people, on both sides", but cuts out him saying, "I'm not talking about neo-Nazis, because they should be condemned, totally", to make it look like he is saying neo-Nazis are fine people is cheap fake. The Biden administration is claiming that recent videos that have gone viral, showing the President struggling are cheap fakes as well, and that context has been edited out. Is this true? Do these videos of Biden classify as 'cheap fakes'? Join the conversation and get answers to this question and more on According2Sam episode #221.

Episode #220: 'Meander'
CNBC anchor, Andrew Sorkin recently reported that he spoke with some CEOs who told him, off the record, that President Trump seemed to be "meandering" in a closed-door meeting they had with him. On the same day, the New York Post published a cover page with a picture of President Biden at the G7 meeting in Italy seeming to wander away from the group of other world leaders with the headline: "Meander in Chief". Behind closed doors, we are told, President Biden sharp, focused, and functioning at a high level. President Trump, on the other hand, is incoherent and meandering behind closed doors, however Trump doesn't seem to be having any of the repeated issues we witness Biden having in public. Is the media using unnamed sources to raise questions about President Trump's age to cover for questions voters are having about President Biden's age? Episode #219: 'Intelligence Op'
Voters were warned that Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation in the fall of 2020, just before the November election, and there was certainly disinformation being disseminated to the American people in those final weeks of the campaign, but it wasn't coming from Russia. It was actually coming from the American intelligence community and those blaming Russia for the laptop. It was an American intelligence operation of disinformation, much like the operation that American intelligence officials pulled off in the 2016 election. Now that we know for certain that American intelligence officials tried to frame Russia during their election interference in the 2020 election shouldn't we reevaluate what these same officials told us about Russia's activities during the 2016 election? Episode #218: 'Spies Who Lie'
President Trump was just convicted for an illegal campaign contribution in the 2016 election when he defeated Hillary Clinton. It was a convoluted case based on novel legal theory, but what it comes down to is an illegal campaign contribution. Another example of an illegal campaign contribution is a contribution 'in-kind' that exceeds the legal limit. An 'in-kind' contribution is not a financial contribution. It's anything of non-monetary value that is donated to the campaign, like when the 51 former intelligence officials lied before the 2020 election by claiming Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation. Then, without vetting these intelligence officials, the media ran with their lies and donated more to the Biden campaign by covering up the story. What is the value of this gift they gave Biden just before that election, and was it election interference? Episode #217: 'Two-Tiered Justice'
When Joe Biden was a senator in the early 1990's he supported a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years for anyone caught with a piece of crack cocaine the size of a quarter. He didn't care if they had a problem with addiction, or how much their father loved them. It was five years in jail. "Judge doesn't even have a choice", he boasted in a speech from the Senate floor. Ironically, his son would later become a crack addict. He has photographed and recorded himself in possession of much more crack than a piece the size of quarter, but while many other Americans had to serve mandatory jail-time imposed by Joe Biden, his son has never spent a day in jail for possession of crack. When Commodus became emperor after his father, Marcus Aurelius died, it ushered in the end of the Pax Romana, which was a period of almost two centuries of peace and prosperity. The young emperor was not ready to rule the great empire, and there was a sense of weakness from the moment he became Augustus. When he was assassinated the rule of law was also assassinated with him. It was the beginning of the last days of the empire. There were five emperors in the year after Commodus’s death, and within the following three decades the Roman Empire would be engulfed in a crisis that would change the empire forever. Professor Allan Lichtman's 13 Keys for predicting the outcome of U.S. presidential elections has been the most accurate forecaster over the past 4 decades. It looks at the issues, not the polls, and it is these issues that move the polls. Lichtman's keys determine the strengths and weaknesses of the party in power, and how well or poorly they governed. Two of the 13 Keys focus on foreign policy, one for wins and the other for failures. Judging the Biden administration by these keys so far, he has no foreign policy wins. However, he does have a foreign policy failure. Episode #214: 'Origins'
The origins of Covid-19 have been in question since the virus first started spreading in Wuhan, China, where coincidentally there is a level 4 virology laboratory that was doing research on virus. We were first told the virus was zoonotic and had emerged in nature. They said it had come from a wet market where Chinese people buy food and it had come from a bat or a pangolin. There were many people who speculated early on that the virus had originated in the bio lab, but they were all discounted as conspiracy theorists and nut jobs. Today we know for certain the virus originated in the laboratory and it was engineered through gain of function research. Despite a coordinated effort by those responsible to keep the origins of Covid-19 hidden, the truth is finally coming out. Episode #213: 'Hot Sauce'
Every election year politicians show up to Black churches, Black cookouts, and Black media pandering for Black votes. It is mostly Democrats, because until recently it was viewed as a waste of time and resources for Republicans to campaign for Black votes. However, that has changed. The Black vote is not as reliable for Democrats as it used to be, and both parties are now trying to get Black voters. Joe Biden and his team know he is losing support among this important demographic, especially with Black men. This past weekend, Biden delivered the commencement speech at Morehouse College in Atlanta. The all-male HBCU was the perfect place for Biden to sincerely and authentically make his case to Black men, but all he did was lie to them and offer them more shameless pandering. Episode #212: 'The Formula'
Campaign strategists that run major party presidential campaigns use data for every decision. They depend on polling, focus groups, modeling, and many other tools to gather as much information as they can from as many different methods possible. They can now identify particular precincts that will determine the outcome of an entire state. They know which demographic groups they need to improve with, and the groups they have locked up. This is why you see so many presidential candidates changing their message and retooling mid campaign. They are likely reacting to internal data their campaign has gathered. All of this data can be very useful, but it is not always practical. Even with all of this data and calculated moves it can be frustrating when the formula doesn't seem to be working. Episode #211: 'Anti-Israel Protest'
The protests on college campuses over the past few weeks are only a small part of the demonstrations we have seen over the past 7 months. Protesters have taken over the Capitol, blocked traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge and at O'Hare airport. They've protested at the Correspondents' Dinner, Met Gala, and all of Joe Biden's campaign events. Many people have classified these protests as antisemitic, but the numbers of Jewish demonstrators joining these protests, sometimes leading, cannot be overlooked. The View's, Sunny Hostin claimed these are anti-war protests, but if that was the case wouldn't they be protesting the war in Ukraine too? Episode #210: 'Betrayed'
A few weeks ago, Speaker Johnson finally brought the $95 billion foreign aid package to the floor for a vote after months of holding the legislation up. It was highly controversial, and it angered many in his own party. More Republicans voted against aid to Ukraine than voted for it. In a radio interview with Mark Levin, Johnson justified his decision by saying it was the only way to get aid for Israel. He said supporting Israel was a priority, and Biden would not fund Israel without funding Ukraine. Now that the House has passed the foreign aid to Ukraine, Biden has announced he is withholding some weapons to Israel if they invade Gaza. Johnson says he feels betrayed. Episode #209: 'If it Feels Good, Do it'
Sigmund Freud's theory of the unconscious and the three personality structures of human psychology is based on three principles. The ego is based on the reality principle, and it relates to the mind and an individual's ability determine what is real about the world and act accordingly. The superego is based on the morality principle, and it relates to an individual's values, ethics, and morals. The superego is your conscious, and it is always encouraging you to do what is right, and to not obey the id. The id is based on the pleasure principle, and it relates to base level human desires. The id only seeks to please the flesh and avoid pain at all costs. The id doesn't care about morality or reality. The only thing the id cares about is if it feels good, do it! The emergence of psychotherapy in the 20th century changed the way we see ourselves as humans. At no other time in human history have we been more aware of how we feel and of our emotions. Today it seems like everything in our society is viewed through how we feel, or how someone else feels. Psychotherapy has led to a whole new healthcare industry that focuses on helping people control their feelings, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Over the years this industry has developed a verity of different diagnoses and treatments for what they term, "mental illness". Some of these treatments, such as electroshock therapy and lobotomies, are no longer in use and are considered inhumane and barbaric today. We look back with disbelief that we could ever use such procedures in the name of healthcare. The Beatitudes are a list of nine blessings that Jesus gave in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." These nine blessings reflect the character and attitude of those whom God favors. The meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, are given a special blessing. Then Jesus added the peacemakers. These are people who have a character and attitude of peace, but who also actively work to bring peace where there is war and conflict. Jesus says that these people will be called the Sons of God. Episode #206: 'Not a Whole lot of Money'
After Congress approved the new supplemental foreign aid package worth nearly $100 billion, most of which goes to Ukraine, Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell was asked in a Fox News interview if the new aid will be enough money for Ukraine to push Russia back decisively. He said, “We hope so. It’s only .2 percent of our gross domestic product, so to put that in context it’s not a whole lot of money for us.” What an outrageous thing to say. The United States is nearly $35 trillion in debt and American citizens are struggling through record high prices for food, energy, and other necessities. $61 billion is a heck of a lot of money to us, especially considering the over $100 billion we have already spent on Ukraine. The purpose of the question was to determine how much longer the war will last, and how much more money will it cost us. Judging by McConnell’s answer ‘a lot longer’ and ‘much more’. Major General Smedley D. Butler was the most decorated Marine in American history at the time of his death. He had two Medals of Honor and sixteen other medals, including five for his heroism. In his 34-year career Butler fought in China, the Philippines, Mexico, Central America, and many more regions of the world. In 1933, after he retired, Butler claimed he had been recruited by major industrial businessmen to lead an army of veterans to overthrow America and install a fascist dictatorship. He led them on long enough to get as much information as he could and then he went to Congress with what he knew. He testified to this plot under oath to the House of Representatives, and a final report from that committee along with Butler's testimony still exist today. In his 2002 State of the Union address, President Bush started making his case for the invasion of Iraq. He described Iraq, along with North Korea and Iran, as an "axis of evil'. He said they represented a unique threat to the world, and he was putting them on notice. The following year he invaded Iraq, based on lies and carefully manipulated intelligence that was used to support the lies. Now we are learning about a 'new axis of evil'. Iran is still included for consistency, but the two new additions are Russia and China. Russia is still selling our European allies liquified natural gas, and China is our largest trade partner. However, Speaker Johnson claims he has seen secret intelligence reports that demonstrate how these nations represent a unique threat to the world, and he believes the reports.
