The Mississippi grand jury investigating the death of Nolan Wells has concluded its work and returned a “no bill,” meaning it did not issue any indictments. The grand jury consisted of 23 members: 12 white, 5 Black, 2 Hispanic, 2 Native American, and 1 identified as “other.” There were 13 men and 10 women. The panel issued 132 subpoenas during its investigation and considered information from 43 witnesses; seven of those witnesses testified directly before the grand jury. The cause and manner of Wells’ death remain officially undetermined.
