There are two competing theories on how to win the fight against the novel coronavirus right now, but most Americans only know about one of them. Prominent doctors and specialist from prestigious institutions around the world are on both sides of this debate. However, in the United States there isn’t much of a debate, because only one of these theories is being considered. The orthodox theory is ‘flattening the curve’, which means mandatory quarantines for the entire population, shutting down businesses and schools, and social distancing. The other theory is being called, ‘herd immunity’. Herd immunity is basically a less restrictive approach to socialization in an effort to build a natural immunity to the virus for the entire population. Herd immunity is not only heresy, the doctors promoting this theory and their followers are being considered heretics. How is the censorship of doctors and the suppression of the free flow of ideas impeding progress in the fight against Covid-19, and how is it causing confusion among the population?
