The first time the American public learned about Spygate was on March 4, 2017 when President Trump tweeted, 'Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my "wires tapped" in Trump Tower just before the victory.' Although the spying/surveillance on Trump’s campaign and transition team had been widely reported before that tweet, it didn’t become news until then. The media reported it as just another Trump lie. They said it was completely unverified and there was no evidence to support the claim. Yet, even if they were ridiculing the president they were still reporting it. This made the American people aware, and once it was part of the lexicon it would only be a matter of time before it was confirmed to be true.
